Holidays + Special ServicesThroughout the year we conduct special services that commemorate important events in Jesus' life.
Christmas Eve Two services are held on Christmas Eve:
Ash Wednesday
A special day of repentance to mark the beginning of Lent, the 40-day period (excluding Sundays) of prayer, repentance and self-denial preceding Easter. The name derives from the practice of marking of the faithful with ashes to signify penitence. Maundy Thursday This powerful service is held on the Thursday evening before Easter. It commemorates the Last Supper (the final meal Jesus shared with his disciples prior to his crucifixion) and Christ's washing of His disciples’ feet (the word "Maundy" comes from the Latin word mandatum, command). Jesus told his disciples at that final Passover meal " A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another" John 13:34 Good Friday
Observed on the Friday before Easter Sunday. On this day Christians commemorate the suffering and death of Jesus on the cross. This is a simple service usually held at noon . The mood is somber, the message simple, and the worship brings us to the foot of the cross as with those first followers of Jesus. Easter This is a joyous celebration of the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. On this day we hold a sunrise service on the beach along with the regularly scheduled services held in the sanctuary at 9:30am and 11:00am Please check the calendar for the times and dates of these worship services. For more information on special service, email us or call the church office at (727) 734-5493.
